DREADED WOLF (It was written on the 29th May before president Mohamadu Buhari was sworn in) by Ogunyemi Israel Abidemi

Again, against the loony’s
Gloomy prognostication, this vehement
Fishbone in looters’ throats
Prevails peacefully in the nation’s
Bloodless combat.

Riotous area boys would fulfill
The righteous races of the bicycles
Of their lifecycles in a bottomless
Incarceration where no eyes brighter
Than the sun surveys accurately
The length and breadth of the cloudscape
Nor appreciate the contest of birds
On the tracks of the wind.

Here comes the dreaded general,
Tactically tight trap on
Our representathieves’ fleeing feet!

At the confused crossroads
Of pompous megalomania
Where statesmen are stalemates
And stalemates statesmen;
Where nationalists are diabolists
And diabolists nationalists;
Where teachers are cheaters
And cheaters teachers,
Abruptly like an enthusiastic apparition
He springs forth.

And what is the procrastination for?
Unleash the ravenous wolf without ado
To plug his curious claws deeply into

The nations’ greedy pachyderms’ skins
